Evaluation Question 1

Q1: In which ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Overall I feel my final video is a bit of a hybrid when it comes to codes and conventions.  It follows a simple format linked to the lyrics (Illustrative) and it repeats the message (Amplification) throughout the final product. I do feel it challenges the viewer as everyone in the final product has a disability but they are doing things everyday people do, disabled people don't generally feature in music videos.

Below is my wordle I designed using http://www.wordle.net

Target Audience: Sport For All

The target audience for my music video are all types of athletes and people who are wanting to get into sport (disabled and non-disabled).

This video will hopefully inspire them and motivate them to take up a sport and will hopefully make them think "I can do this!"

Definition of target audience:  A particular group at which a product such as a film or advertisement is aimed.

In the industry, recognising and appealing to your target audience is incredibly important as ultimately they will be the types of people who will be watching your video. Recognising your target audience is vital as they will determine the content of your film. For example, a film opening that is aiming to appeal to a teenage market will be different to an opening appealing to older people. Your target audience need to be able to relate and engage with your opening. I also wanted to link the video  to the forth coming Invictus games in May 2016.

Looking at the music, the target audience would be people who watch music channels like MTV and 4Music and these are the channels I would see my video on.

I have been on https://yougov.co.uk/profileslite#/ to see what type of people watch MTV.

Here are the results:

This is showing that girls aged between 18-24 who live in central Scotland are likely to watch MTV.

Their favourite sports are likely to be football and their most likely pet is a cat.

They are most likely to be confident but sometimes fussy.

They are likely to be a customer of Instagram, shop at topshop and have an Audi as a car.

This shows what their favourite shows are, favourite music and favourite celebrities.

This shows how much they are online for, how many hours they watch TV and what newspaper & magazine they read.

I then looked at 4Music.

This is showing that girls aged between 18-24 who live in the North East are likely to watch 4Music.

Their favourite sports are likely to be swimming and their most likely pet is a dog.

They are most likely to be friendly but sometimes careless.

They are likely to shop at Superdry and ASDA.

This shows how much they are online for, how many hours they watch TV and what newspaper & magazine they read.

This shows what their favourite shows are, favourite music and favourite celebrities.

Because of this I have also targeted my video at people who have shown an interest in the Paralympic games.  This produces an extremely wide ranging potential target audience. I feel my video will be aimed at the mass market and the secondary research into targets audiences confirms this.

Digipak

Using Photoshop, I've made a digipak. I blended 4 photos together to make the front cover.  I think asked for feedback. I placed a copy of the digipak on social media so as to attract as much feedback as possible so I could develop my final product.

We Could Be Heroes draft 2

I've added horse riding as some people from my audience feedback wanted another sport added and I knew a friend who was then happy for my to film her doing some dressage, and changed the filter on some of the clips.  I still need to add underwater shots.

We Could Be Artists: Poster

This is my poster advertising The Madison Letter's new single: WE COULD BE HEROES

On the poster I've put a photograph with the date of the release - Friday 12th February 2016

Again due to audience feedback from the draft advert being posted on social media I made refinements to my final media product. As well as making my own QR Code which has the web address for my blog, I've also make my own QR Code for Youtube so people can scan the code and watch the video.

I've also written the web address on it so people without smartphones can access it.

This is my video on youtube:

Please fill out the survey:

I chose survey money as its easy to create simple surveys and the results are collated for you. By collecting research at each stage I can then develop and effective final product that will suit my target audience.
